After landing placements in MTV’s Ex On The Beach and Hulu’s Dollface, Barbados-born, Toronto-based singer and songwriter Jenny Mayhem is back with Social Piranha, a six-track EP produced by British songwriter/producer Andrei Basirov, also known as Sugar Jesus.

‘Who’s Gonna Love You?’ answers the question asked by lame exes everywhere with a celebration of self-love. The track was named !earshot’s Song of the Day on its release, and Lefuturewave praised the single’s ‘sublime vocals, smooth harmonies and solid hooks.’

‘Soon’, a 50’s meets 80’s new wave bop, chronicles the rise of fellow Barbados-born musician Rihanna while Jenny looks on with bittersweet admiration. The track was quickly picked up as one of PopMatters’ Picks of the Day and added to Spotify’s “Fresh Finds” and “Fresh Finds: Indie” playlists.

Jen Mahon (aka Jenny Mayhem) makes honest, relatable pop songs about high hopes and small worries. Her songs have been featured in multiple television series and commercial campaigns and her dance music alias, Nina Carr, has amassed over 15 million streams on Spotify.

Born and raised in Barbados, Jenny’s Caribbean upbringing comes through in sunny, dub-inspired tracks like ‘Pickup Boy’ and ‘Who’s Gonna Love You?’, but her lyrics tell stories forged in the live music and dating scene of downtown Toronto.

Jenny’s 2020 EP, Social Piranha, further establishes an eclectic sound that draws influence from the pop, reggae and folk genres. Surviving The Golden Age compared the EP’s first single to ‘Alright, Still-era Lily Allen’ while the second single was added to Spotify’s Fresh Finds and Fresh Finds Indie playlists soon after its release.

In 2021, Jenny plans to continue releasing music under her various aliases, as well as a new collaboration with Danish producer Rasmus Liebst, backed by KODA, Demark.
